Project Description

The Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc® race is the leading long-distance trail event both in Europe and worldwide. The athletes must run through three countries, 15 mountain villages, a total of 169 kilometres, up and down 9 700 metres of vertical gain, all in less than 46 hours. The 2011 race, which less than half the 2 500 participants finished, turned out to be the hardest since 2003, the year the race was first run. It was in this extraordinary context that Team Vibram showed its true colours. Five athletes, selected from among 150 candidates from 12 countries, representing the values upheld by the Vibram brand and boasting a proud slogan of “Ordinary people being extraordinary”. Five “normal” people, capable of a truly exceptional achievement. A sports and personal adventure filmed from the start in Chamonix, in a very outdoor style by a team of ten cameramen. The result is a film covering the entire race through to the finish, showing the trials and tribulations of the racers. A film of rising intensity, mixing their conversations and thoughts, in which the full power and beauty of Mont Blanc are strikingly present, as a complement and occasionally in contrast to the strengths and weaknesses of the men attempting to go beyond their own physical and mental limits.
